Summer Catch Up-Sarah edition

Sarah is becoming our little performer.
She received her "black belt" in recorder karate. She had a blast singing and playing the recorder in the spring concert.
Sarah is looking forward to joining Cougar claws in 4th grade and playing the flute in 5th.On sports day at school she showed her Viper Spirit in her practice gear. Field day was the best! My little diva finished cheer and then had a day of pampering to get ready for the Daddy Daughter Dance.

Summer in Baltimore wouldn't be complete with out an O's game. On the 4th of July Sarah walked in two parades with her team. Then it was off to cheer camp with the Baltimore Raven cheer leaders.
Two of the coaches from her gym are Raven's cheer leaders!

Sarah and her friend Kaiya had a blast with all the cheer leaders.
Back handsprings across the field :) Sarah and her friend Abby had feather hair extension put in. Then it was onto performance night at Raven's stadium!

Now she is working on her tuck.

Summer Catch Up- Jim edition

Here is a little glimpse into Jim's amazing summer.

He has grown and matured so much.
I guess you could say it all started when he received his arrow of light in club scouts.

"The Arrow of Light award is the highest award available to Cub Scouts. It requires the Scout to have earned the Webelos Scout badge and eight activity badges. In addition to the skill and activity requirements of the preceding ranks, the Arrow of Light requires Scouts to learn the Scout Promise and Scout Law, and visit one meeting and one activity of a Boy Scout troop, in preparation for advancing to the Boy Scouts. "

He also crossed over into Boy Scouts. From there it was onto the big stage!
He had fun playing a couple roles in a local production of Aladdin. The beginning of summer also meant the end of 5th grade!
He was so excited to graduate....he was on pins and needles! Then the proud day came!
No more elementary school! Next it was onto Kidpointe Kamp.
Time to make friends, play games, learn new things and praise God! There was a brief stay at Hopkins to clean up a couple things. Next it was off to Boy Scout camp. Jim was only home for a day when he was off on a mission trip. He served the community of York, Pa.
and served his fellow missionaries. There was also a little time for fun! To round out the summer we took a trip to Raven's stadium.

After all this fun you would think..."Can there be more?!"
YES!
On August 21st (drum roll please).......
Jim was baptized!

And, On August 23 he turned..... 13
(and experienced his first earth quake) !

Summer Catch Up - Lucas edition

Lucas started of his summer on a chilly note....

For his pk-3 graduation he decided to play the snowman.

Hmm...I guess he wanted to get on Santa's good side in case the elves were watching. He had such a wonderful year at tots.

Its hard to believe he only has one more year and then its off to the big school.
This year he made friends- real friends. Like...get upset if some one is not there friends.
Its pretty cool as a mom to watch him become a little person. For a while this summer we had a new superhero in town...

meet Shark boy! Best Buddies Luke also got in touch wit his artistic side. I have to say, he is too cute for words. At six flags he was consumed by a squid. But luckily he was rescued in time to show his buddy Woody around Philly. We also enjoyed a movie at the great Senator theater. New boots all the way from Tennessee. Two peas in a pod. Silly Bandz...need I say more. I have discovered that my kids will hug anything that looks stuffed and then Luke will look at me and say...

"There's a person in there." This summer there were a lot of forts being built... and ice cream being made. We also had up front seats for a balloon launch. Carnival Time and to close summer out... Blue hair for crazy hair day at cheer leading.

Its hard to believe how much he has grown since he came into my life 3 1/2 years ago. Today he is becoming a loving, God fearing young man! Happy Birthday!

Summer Catch Up- Mikey edition

Mikey's summer was full of fun!

Mikey enjoyed playing his 3rd season of baseball.
He is awesome. Batting is his favorite but he is starting to field a little. He was a real trooper when it came time for his dental surgery.
He had 4 teeth removed and a couple capped. Mikey finished out school with his kindergarten graduation. Singing Mr. Sun Ms.Shuss awarded him his certificate. Then it was time for cake. Mikey and Ms.Shuss Picnic Time

I think the highlight of Mikey's summer was meeting the Bird at his awards banquet. Mikey and one of his coaches. 4th of July. Slippin Slide fun! Look BiG BOY UNDIES! Exploring nature. VBS Carnival One cool dude!

Wow! It's been a while since I've been on here!

We have been enjoying life...So much so that our family has grown!

Back in April Tuck joined our family. Jason found him crossing the road while geocaching.

He was afraid the poor thing would get run over so he brought him home.

He now resides in his own deluxe penthouse sweet!

On Tuesday we celebrated the arrival of Chance!

Chance is a nine week old black lab.

He is sweet as can be.

He is my official foot warmer under my desk.

So at the moment our stats are:

1 dad, 1 mom, 4 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 rabbit and 1 turtle.

Not too shabby!

Camp is over for the summer.

Jim and Sarah had an amazing time and

the are both looking forward to going back next summer.

On the last day of camp they had a closing ceremony. Since the camp is based around Indian lore, the ceremony also reflected that. Both of the kids also received a patch for participation. Now, I can wait to get their disposable cameras developed.

Special People Day

Here's another reason I love the carnival. Every year they open one day for special people.
It is a wonderful opportunity for people with disabilities to get to enjoy the carnival.
The improvement association provides free rides, food and games.

A few years back my dad was in a rehab after a bad motorcycle accident.

His rehab brought him to the carnival on this wonderful day and I think that it brought him some joy. So why did we come this year?Mikey has a very hard time with long lines and the commotion of big crowds tends to set him off. Now don't get me wrong, we had a blast at the carnival when we went a couple nights before. But, it was tense. It was so nice to not have the lines. Mikey and Luke could go ride to ride and get on pretty quickly. They had a blast. They even discovered the roller coaster. They loved it so much... They rode it five times. To make the day even better we got to spend it with MomMom and PopPop.

Carnival Time

Each year we head back to my hometown at carnival time.

We actually visit my family back home a lot,

but I am always extra happy to go back home at carnival time.

The kids love riding the rides... and so does Daddy! This year Mikey slid down the slide by himself. One of my favorite things at the carnival is the penny pitch.

I mean it is only a penny to play!
Where else can you find carnival games that cheap.

Basically, you shot the pennies into bowls and if one lands in the bowl you get a bead necklace.
The kiddie games where $2 a piece, a little steep but luckily this only comes once a year. Another thing that is pretty awesome about the carnival is that my dad lives right down the street. So, we usually get to see him, or in Luke's case, sword fight with him. We ended the night with ice cream.
Almost everyone was happy.

Yesterday I packed up these two, loaded up the car and headed out. For the next two weeks they will be at Camp Puh'Tok. Sarah will be spending her time in a nice air conditioned cabin...While Jim gets to stay in the "long house", with no ac or electric. Sarah gets a nice room. Jim gets this bunk, with this beautiful view. And you know what?

They both are extremely excited with their lodging and were both very excited for Mom to leave so they could get the party started! I can wait to hear all their stories.

Well, here I am, as promised!
Today was a typical rough day.
But I will not focus on that...
I will not focus on having to ground one of the kids for playing their DS after bedtime last night.

I will not focus on finding an entire bottle of soap dumped in one of the suitcases full of Sarah's camp supplies.

I will not focus on the tantrums that were thrown when I said no.

I will not focus on the grapes that became bullets or the string cheese I am still finding all over the house.

I will no focus the 12 pairs of poopy underwear I found (long story).

I will not focus on the book I slipped on that sent me flying across the room.

I will not focus on the cut toe that resulted from that flight.

I will not focus on the Starbucks and Reese's cup I downed at 10pm.

What I will focus on is this....

Isn't that smile the best!

That is the smile of a little boy who is proud of himself.
A little boy that is having fun helping Mommy.

Mikey gets home from school just before lunch. Today, as usual he ran to the kitchen and climbed on the counter to dig for the pop tarts. Pop tarts are his go to food. His comfort food. It doesn't matter where I hide them or how many times I tell him not to climb on the counters, he will find them. Today I caught him before they where opened. His response- his usual very loud scream. I told him it was lunch time. It just happened I had sponge bob and toy story mac and cheese and the cabinet. I asked him if he would pick for me. He continued to scream. I asked again. He stopped, looked and picked- toy story. We put it in the microwave and I helped him push the buttons. He stood there and watched- the entire time. I think the microwave amazes him. Then he helped me stir in everything and even scooped it out onto every one's plate. All the time excitedly tell his siblings who's plate was next. When it was his plate's turn he found joy in filling it with a small layer of pasta. I asked him how many nuggets he wanted, he told me five. I made him count out five and he did, by himself on the first try! I was so proud of him. One of my biggest fears for Mikey is that he will not have the life skills to survive on his own. Or, that he will not be able to communicate what he needs. Baby step by baby step he is making his way. I just need to be patient and remember the God will make a way. He always does. Who am I to doubt him.

That is what I will focus on.

Last night I had the pleasure to view it for the first time.
Just like Julie, sometimes I feel like my life is in the slump.
So, at 1:30AM I decided I was going jump full force into blogging.
My blog has been around for about 2 years, but I have never fully embraced it.
I must give myself a little credit, lately I have been doing much better in sharing my little piece of the world with everyone out there in reader-land.
But you see- I tend to let life get the best of me.
There is so much baggage in my life that I tend to smile and pack it away,
this results in me feeling overwhelmed and like a failure,
which turns into more baggage...blah, blah, blah.
I stop doing the things I enjoy and super focus on things I cannot fix.
I know I cannot change this over night,
but I realize I have an outlet to dump some of that baggage and a place to share my joys.
Yes, even when that crap builds I still see the joy that is in my life.
So why am I telling you all this?
Well it just happens that there is a new reality series in the works that is based around blogging moms and I am throwing my hat in the ring.

So this is me...

I’m Lore and for me blogging has always been a way to share our lives with family, friends and those who may by chance stumble upon my craziness.
What is my story? What journey am I on?
Well,

I have two wonderful little boys that I had the pleasure to give birth to.
The oldest of which has a chromosomal abnormality and has been diagnosed on the autism spectrum.
My once quite little boy now has the super power of turning into a raving lunatic in 2.5 seconds flat. At times I am brought to tears.
I am learning what is best for him and how to adapt to his moods and demands.
Talk about a journey- Sometimes it feels like one step forward only to be knocked ten steps back.
My little one- well, he keeps me on my toes, also!

I also have another two amazing kids that God placed in my life.
I may not have carried them in my womb but I have definitely carried them in my heart. Currently we are a foster family but, come November 2011 we will be a forever family.
Their story is truly heart stopping and some day with their permission I hope to share the lengths they’ve traveled to become who they are.

I hope my blog can be a catalyst to bring myself and other moms together.
Together to smile, laugh, cry, complain and maybe slowly unpack that baggage that is holding us all back.

Introducing Patches!

Last Wednesday I showed a pictures of out newest 4-legged addition, Patches.
We were not expecting to add any more pets at this time,
but with some thing that cute...
So here is sweet Patches story.
A couple months back a stray cat adopted us.
Yes, we named her...
Yes, we fed her...
Yes, we bought her a shelter.
( By us I mean me, ha!)
Last Monday Tyco started barking hysterically and Jim went to see what was going on.
When he looked over the deck this is what he found....Princess ( I told you I named her) had had 3 adorable kittens.
Isn't this one just a stinker! Of course, what else were we to do but scoop them up and bring them in?
They are all so cute.... But this one stole my heart!
She was a lot smaller then her siblings
and upon inspection I noticed a cut on her throat and a large mass.
Off to the vet we went.
The doctor said the poor thing would need surgery to drain two large abscesses
(one in her neck and one in her belly).
BUT...it wouldn't be cheap. I couldn't say no.
My poor baby went into surgery without a name and we didn't know if she was a she yet.
We did find out that she was about 3 1/2-4 weeks old.At home the other two kittens snuggled
and practiced being adorable!
(By the way- they are looking for a loving home.) Then the vet called and said my little one pulled through like a trooper. She had to have a drain placed in her neck and stomach.
It looked nasty but at least she could come home. She wouldn't nurse with her mother so I had to syringe feed her. In the morning she likes to curl in my hair.
Yes, she is spoiled! Our big baby and our littlest baby. On Wednesday I had to take her back to the vet
because she tore a couple of the stitches in her neck. The vet removed the tube and restitched her neck,
leaving an opening so it could drain.
By Thursday she was taking the bottle like a pro! She also enjoys snuggling with her siblings. She also learned how to nurse.

Sarah said that they were fighting over the "sucker") On Sunday she took a trip to church with us
and then off to the vet to have her tummy tube removed.
She enjoyed snuggling with her teddy during the trip. Well, I did say she is spoiled!

New York City!

Last weekend we found ourselves with nothing to do.

So we hopped in the car and started driving.

At first we were just going to go to a state park or a local park.
Pretty soon it turned into- Hey! Lets drive to New York.

So we did!

Along the way we stopped for doughnuts.

(As if kids stuck in a car need more sugar) We finally arrived at about 5:15 pm.

Our first stop was in Jersey City.

We were hoping to catch a ferry over to Ellis island and the statue,

but unfortunately we arrived just as the last ferry was coming back.

Guess we have to go back another weekend. We walked around the station for awhile and pointed out

Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty to the kids. Then it was time to head into the city. Notice all the cabs.. Yep we're in NY City. We drove around the city pointing out things like... the Empire State Building and.... Times Square. Then we hit the streets. The boys spotted Buzz....Big Buzz. We had dinner at Planet Hollywood. After dinner we headed home. Our spur of the moment trip was just perfect.

We were in the city long enough for the kids to get a taste of New York

and long enough for us to start planning out our next trip.

Cheer Camp

Sarah's first camp of the summer was cheer camp.

She had a blast tumbling, jumping and stunting for 3 very long and hot days.

On the last day she was awarded the best hair award!

Gotta love big sparkly bows.

Homemade "Uncrustables"

After canning 24 jars of delicious strawberry jam

(at the rate we are using it I should have made 3 times that amount!)

I decided to make some "uncrustables". Uncrustables are sandwiches that you can buy in the store, pop in your freezer and pull out when you want to eat them. Well, I can do that! First, push a well in your bread. Add a spoonful of peanut butter. Then add a spoonful of jam.

(You can substitute pb&j with other fillings) Place another piece of bread on top.

I bought this little device from Pampered Chef.

Center it on the bread.

Push down on the outside of the tool, not the plunger. Pull of the left over bread.

We save our scraps to feed the birds. Now push the plunger down.

I flip the sandwich over and seal each side. To store them I place parchment between them and place them in freezer bags.

That's it! Pretty easy!

They are great in camp lunches and trips to the zoo.

They are also awesome for little boys and girls on the run.

Cub Scout Day Camp 2010

What is one the best things about summer...Camp!

This is the last year Jim will be able to attend cub scout day camp as a camper.

This time next year my little scout will be a Boy Scout.

The theme this year is Cubs in Time.

For those that do not know Boy scouts are celebrating their 100 anniversary.

Jim loves camp. But who wouldn't when you get to hang out with a bunch a crazy guys like these... The camp is held outdoors and the temps were so hot this year.

It was so hot the camp was highlighted on a local news station.

They did a story about how the kids are being kept hydrated and safe.

Even the heat couldn't keep the boys from being boys. One of Jim's favorite stations was the BB guns. He has awesome aim. The first day he shot 50/50! There is also archery... and sling shots.How awesome is this...

Searching for fossils. Power Tools!!! Each year the camp holds a campfire and skit night. This year they opened camp with the boys singing "You're a Grand Old Flag" The also hold a flag retirement ceremony. The last day brings the best event of all....

It is officially summer time around our home. Luke finished school back in May. The other three kiddos excitedly finished school a little over a week ago. It's hard to believe that this little dude will be in kindergarten next year. Where has all the precious time gone? And these two... Well this is the big man on campus, Jim is in 5th grade now! Miss Sarah is now a 3rd grader Now that school is done....

Three years ago this little cutie entered our lives. Today she is a cute, sweet, intelligent little girl.

Last weekend we headed up to see her and her family.

All the kids had a blast running around and playing in the bounce house.And of course there were presents....And Cake... Luke really enjoyed the cake! Happy Birthday Baby Girl, Aunt Lore loves you!

Strawberry Picking

A couple weekends ago we headed out to a pick your own strawberry farm. It was our first time at the farm so we didn't know what to expect. When we first arrived, each of the kids picked out a basket. Next we hopped on the tractor pulled tram. ( This was a big hit with the kids)

As we pulled up a worker gave us a couple directions and before he sent us on our way he said...

"feel free to eat as you pick, they strawberries are clean!"

Man, that was heaven to our ears. When was the last time you were able to sample at the grocery store? Off we went... The kids all did a great job. But, even better we had a blast. We ended up with over 40 lbs. ! So what did we do with all the strawberries? Well, we ate some, froze some, dehydrated some...... made some strawberry shortcakes... and then my fun started! I made 24 jars of jam. Yummy! I am going to make some homemade "uncrustables" for quick summer lunches and trips to the zoo.

From drab to fab!

I picked up a three pack of this cheap wood frames awhile back. They have been sitting in the closet screaming to be dressed up. I rounded up my supplies: glitter, glue, rhinestones and these awesome flowers... Two of the frames I covered in glue, and covered in glitter. I then added the flowers. The third one I totally covered in flowers. To make them even more glam I added rhinestones to the center of each flower. They turned out really cute and didn't cost me that much. I was able to find every thing I needed in my stash. Next, I need to make some boyish ones for the rest of the kiddos.

Batter, Batter, SWING!

We are almost at the end of Mikey's 2nd baseball season. Last year we played on a typical t-ball team, this year we played on an adapted league. I have to say, I think he has had more fun this year then last. I know I have (and so has his Daddy). Now don't get me wrong, we had a wonderful coach last year. He was very understanding of Mikey's delays and he assisted Mikey when ever he needed help. But, Mikey stood out. He didn't understand how to run the bases and the outfield? Ha! Well, we tried, right? This year I had no fear going to the baseball field. It didn't matter how slow Mikey ran, or if he had a melt down. Everyone understood, becuase, they were dealing with the same stuff. Mikey makes me so proud everyday with every little thing he learns. He absolutely loves to bat and guess what....... He learned to hit without a tee! He also loves to run the bases. Having a huge "snack tree", as Mikey calls it, doesn't hurt either. What made this season extra special was the bond Mikey and Daddy formed. Every little boy should have an awesome daddy on the side lines cheering him on... Or on the field when he heeds him... And sometimes he runs the bases with him... I wonder what sport we will try next!

Summer's Here!

Ok, I know this post is a little late but things have been a little hectic. A couple weekends ago we celebrate Memorial Day and the start of summer around here. We spent the day together as a family and had an amazing low-key day. Of course, we had food. Lots of food! Mikey and Luke both love corn on the cob.This would be our grill master, also known as my awesome hubby.Take note of the totally cool blue undies.

The Lukester is in full swing of potty training and I must say he is doing a great job.Did I mention that we like to eat?We ended the night with a couple fireworks. We weren't going to have any, but, the night before the neighbors shot off a couple bottle rockets and Luke insisted we had to have our own fireworks.

Recently I got together with a group of friends to make korker bow flip flops for our cheerleaders. It was a lot of work but the flip flops turned out so cute!

Here's what we used:

100% Polyester Ribbon
Clothespins
Wooden dowels( I bought the 12 inch long ones in the cake section- they were prefect)

Scissors
Fray check or Stop Fray
Thread and Needle
E-6000 Glue
Flip flops

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 250 degrees.
Use a clothespin to hold one end of your ribbon on the dowel and begin to wrap the ribbon. Once you reach the end of the dowel, cut the ribbon and use another clothespin to hold it in place.

Place the wrapped dowel on a baking sheet covered with aluminum foil to make sure the ribbon stays clean.
"Bake" your ribbon for about 30 minutes. Check it at about 20 minutes to make sure your ribbon is not browning.

Take the baking sheet out of the oven and allow to cool. When the ribbon is cool to touch, slowly unwind it from the dowel.

Cut the ribbon into 2 1/2- 3 1/2 -inch lengths (choose the length that looks best to you) and apply Stop Fraying to the ends. Allow the ribbon to dry. Thread the needle and knot the end. Run the needle through the center of each ribbon segment until you have the number you want threaded. For the flip flops I made two groups of 9 for each shoe. Once you have threaded all the ribbon pieces, run the needle back through and pull it tight.

Apply E-6000 to the flip flop strap and the bow. Wait a second or two until the glue becomes a little tacky. Attach bow to flip flop. I attached a bow to each side of the toe divider piece.
Use a clothespin to hold the bow in place. Allow 12- 24 hours to dry. There ya go!

While you're at it- don't forget to make pony tail holders to match!

Final Destination!

Our season of cheer leading is finally over. But, of course we couldn't go out with out a bang! Sarah and I ventured out to Virginia Beach the end of April for Final Destination ( The BIG competition for the rec cheerleaders). All three of the teams from Parkville received a bid to compete at the finals.

Friday night Sarah and some of her friend had a blast dancing the night away at the convention center. One of the things that I have cherished the most about cheer leading is the friendships Sarah and I have both made. Sarah loves cheer leading so much that we have decided to leave rec cheer leading and to join all star cheer leading. The all star squad will provide her with more challenges and will help her develop her skills. I know she will love and learn a lot from the new team, but, above all I hope she develops friendships like those she has made over the last couple seasons.

But, that's a whole different blog post for a different day. I have to say the weather was absolutely gorgeous! I am not typically a mom that will buy a two piece for her baby girl. But, Sarah saw this one and we decided to go for it. Everyone can breathe- she will have a one piece for summer camp and all her other activities. This was a special trip and it needed a special suit!

Sarah had so much fun on the beach with her friends.I think she had the most fun doing cartwheels into the water.

I helped coach the under 6 team. I was very proud of how hard the girls worked all season. We placed 3rd place!

Sarah's team was simply amazing! Her team placed 4th! Now, we look forward to the next chapter in our cheer leading story. Tryouts are in a couple of weeks and I am sure Sarah will do great. Until then...

Where is the best place to be on a sunny spring day? Well, if you live around here its the playground! My kids love the playground and we are so fortunate to have a ton of playgrounds close to where we live.Both Mikey and Luke love the swings.

It it doesn't hurt that they have a big brother that doesn't mind pushing them just I little bit higher then Mommy does!

Our spring break trip to the zoo

Over Spring Break I ventured out with the kids to the zoo. A couple of the kids have never been to the zoo, for the others its been years. I was very proud of myself flying solo with all four kids. I must say we had a blast and can not wait to go again. The kids loved the slides and took many turns going down them.

They also loved pretending to be turtles and petting goats in the kids zoo. We even got a peak at the elephants.But I think we had the most fun racing the giraffe back and forth in his exhibit.

Two things I learned this week...

1. I learned how to get Mikey to wear a band-aid.
2. I learned how much that band-aid would cost!
First off let me say that, my dear Mikey hates, I mean hates with a passion band-aids.
So my story begins- Monday morning I heard Mikey call out what I thought was "out". I called for him to come to me in the other room. As he got closer to me I realized he was saying "Ouie". When I looked up his arm was covered in blood. We quickly ran to the bathroom and ran water over it and I could see that he had a cut a good chunk of skin off his thumb. The poor thing was in so much pain he started saying-" Mommy band-aid on it- MAKE IT BETTER!" but it didn't matter what I did it kept bleeding. After consulting with our neighbor who is a nurse in training I headed of to our local emergency care center. Of course by then the bleeding had slowed. In the ended all they had to do was wash the cut and put a band-aid on. Now Mikey has no problems with band-aids.
So, what did it take to get Mikey to wear a band-aid? Oh, just a big 'ol cut on the finger. And, how much did that band-aid cost us? Just $140.00!

A dog and his creature

Once upon a time there was a dog named Tyco.

Who lived very happily as the center of attention in his family...

Then one day his masters brought home a strange fur less creature. The creature seemed to have four functions...screaming, eating, pooping and sleeping.

Tyco took pity on this small creature. He decided to take the creature as his own. To love and protect.

From that day on they were always together.

Tyco loved his creature with all his heart, even when his creature wasn't so little anymore.

Tyco can't believe that he has had over 5 years with his creature. He is amazed how the time has flown. One thing he knows for sure is that he loves his creature and couldn't imagine life without him!

What time you may wonder?

Its geocaching time!

What is geocaching? Here is a little info from Geocaching.com

"Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment."

On Saturday we all piled in the truck and headed out. The weather was absolutely beautiful.
Our first stop was a wonderful little park in the middle of no where. Sometimes on our adventures we stumble on little beauties like this. The kids love running through the woods and jumping over streams.

We all enjoy the thrill of the hunt as we look for geocaches. Our first one was hiden just hard enough for the kids to find. The kids all took there turns looking through the "treasure" and then we were on our way. As we head to our next geocache we were lucky enough to be at the railroad crossing just as a train headed down the track. Almost a little too lucky! We ended up finding 3 geocaches that day, but, best of all we had an amazing day with each other. Which in the end is the best treasure!

1. You don't have to give birth to be a mother.

2. Don't be afraid to be silly.

3. Character band aids make boo boos better faster.

4. Some kids hate band aids!

5. They won't die if they don't eat.

6. Let them get muddy- it is good for the soul and it wears them out.

7. Nothing attracts a kid (especially a little brother) like a locked door.

8. Doctors can be wrong.

9. Memories are not expensive to make.

10. There is no such thing as a "normal" kid.

11. Stash stickers everywhere. They are a lifesaver.

14. Let them do it. They will be very proud when the figure it out.

15. There's nothing wrong with playing with worms.

16. Coins fascinate kids (kids will work for coins)

17. There's nothing wrong with pink hair. Some times you just need a change.

18. Give them a box-they'll give you a castle or a spaceship or a boat or a....

19. 1 shoe will always disappear 5 minutes before you walk out the door.

20. 5 boxes of crayons is never enough.

21. Each kid needs their own bag of cotton candy.

22. If all else fails turn up the radio and sing along, very loudly.

Not too shabby for only doing this mom thing for a little over 5 years.

After the tons of snow we received the last couple of months its nice to know that spring is here and to actually have a couple of beautiful days to prove it. Of course we have traded snow for mud. Lots of mud. Luckily I have a little boy that could live his life covered in mud.

That same sweet little boy was very excited to get his bike out for his first (and definitely not last) ride of the season.

Just as little brothers do, Luke soon jumped on his bike and was following his big brother.

Even if his helmet was a little too big...

And it wouldn't be spring without a new haircut.

Between Sarah's cheering and my coaching, cheering has hit our home big time. You'll hear no complaining from my part. I love the sparkle, curls and bows. The extra sweet little girls I get to spend my time with also doesn't hurt! It amazes me to watch the girls tumble and jump. I laugh when people argue that cheer leading is not a sport. Come watch one of our practices! But what impresses me the most is the amazing faith and trust these girls have in their team mates. Hey, would you let someone throw you in the air or hold you 5 feet off the ground, if you didn't?

Life in 30 seconds or less....

Yes, I once again have slacked off in the blog department. So what has happened so far in 2010? Well, here we go...

Luke turned 3, on January 4th! I am still wondering where the heck the "slow time down" switch is, because I can't believe my baby is 3.

Jim had his first taste of stardom with our local drama group. He enjoyed being the only boy in his group. (Playing the part of superman didn't hurt the matter either!)

Sarah also had her moment of glory on stage. Sarah and her friends had a blast performing a couple songs from "Annie".

Mikey turned 5 on January 18th. (Still looking for that switch!)

We were blessed with way too much snow. Thank you God, I will not complain about the lack of good snowfall in Maryland for about another 10 years.

We had our first official sleep over. For one night I had 8 kids sleeping in my living room. I survived and can't wait to do it again!

Sarah loves gymnastics, just a little bit more, now that she has a bright red leotard.

Mikey loves preschool and his big yellow bus.

The 6 and under girls that Angel and I coach took 1st at Reach the Beach.

Did I mention the snow?

Jim has a heck of a swing!

My little girl is growing up too fast.

Luke had fun sharing his book during show and tell.

1. Luke listening to our "Sunshine Kids" CD in Sunday School. I love teaching the 2 year olds. Its tiring but very rewarding.

Today was little league day at Camden Yards. Both Jim and Mikey got the chance to parade around the out field. I was so proud of both boys.Especially Mikey. I wasn't sure that he would be very cool with me leaving him with his coach about a half an hour before the parade. But he did awesome. One of the moms gave out cookies and he could have cared less that I was around. We all waited patiently for our team to come around the track. We stood behind the foul pole so they would know where to look. Mikey doesn't do very good at looking when you point somewhere. You kinda have to turn his head. His coach was very good and got Mikey to look up my way and when he saw me he smiled so big. Then he blew me a kiss (I'm so glad another mom caught this photo for me). My heart melted. Every morning when Mikey gets on the bus I wave and then blow a kiss and does the same back. Usually I am the initiator but today he was. To most this may seem so small but for us this shows how far Mikey has come. When Mikey was younger he didn't initiate anything.We didn't have finger plays, no wheels on the bus. He waved for the first time when he was 2 years old. BUT... today he blew me a kiss and he melted my heart, once again.

Today the six of us ventured out for the day. May is foster parent appreciation month and the wonderful people in the AA county foster care department decided to treat all the foster families to a day at Six Flags. None of the kids had ever been there and they were so excited to ride the rides and watch the shows. The weather was beautiful. It was a perfect day. We have already decided to go back and check out the water park and ride the rides again.

Lately it seems when ever you ask Mikey what he wants to eat its- pancakes. This tends to be a little difficult when we are eating out because most restaurants don't serve pancakes for dinner. So tonight after hearing pancakes for the millionth time we decided to go to a place the had pancakes. And as soon as the menu was laid on the table Mikey quickly pointed out the pancakes. They were gone just as quick once they arrived at our table. Ahh...breakfast for dinner!

On Sunday, May 31 Jason and I celebrated our sixth anniversary. There is a new song out by Brad Paisley called "Then", one of the main lines says "And I thought I loved you then." It is so true. On our wedding day I thought I loved Jason, but it is nothing in comparison to how I feel about him now. My love for him has grown over the years as I've watched him with our children and I've seen his devotion to us and our family. I'm sure in 10, 15, 20 years from now I will look back and say...I thought I loved him then.

Right now the boys are in between beds while we wait for the new ones to arrive. So to pass the time Mikey and Luke sleep on a mattress on the floor. Well I guess Luke wanted to be closer to the action and he ended up passing out in the doorway. Not only did he pass out but he did it in total Luke style with his "My Shoes" on and his "My Dog" under his arm. Gotta love 2 year olds.

Luke has entered the "Mine" stage. Everything is MINE. As we were walking through Walmart Luke spotted these and called out MINE. Well the child really needed a pair of shoes. I am so proud of Mikey. Today was his 3rd Tee ball game. So far we had only gotten him to bat once in his first game. Today Mommy and Mikey went to the game without the rest of the clan. With a lot of encouragement Mikey played the whole game. I am amazed at how far my little man has come in the past couple months. Mikey is not your typical four year old. When Mikey was 2 he still had not started to talk... we really didn't have very many sounds or any babble. We were told that he has apraxia of speech. Basically his brain doesn't tell his mouth how to speak. After two years of speech and special education classes it seems like his brain has turn on. His speech is still very rough but he can get his point across. He loves getting on the school bus in the morning and loves playing with his friends. We still have a long road ahead of us but we're getting there. Now if we could get this potty training thing down...

I guess I am on Sarah overload.But after spending the weekend with her and hearing from all the adults (and seeing for myself) how sweet and caring she is I have to say she is an amazing little girl. With only 7 years in her pocket she has been through more then most adults I know and she has came out smiling with her head held high. Its amazing how children deal with hardship so much better then adults. I hope she holds onto her compassion and grows in grace and love to become the woman I know she can be.

Today was day 2 of camping. I have to say we had an awesome time. Sarah had fun collecting firewood and playing games with the other girls. We can't wait to do it again.

So we started off today in the ER. Jason had a seizure Sunday night. After a short start in the ER we were on our way. Jim and Sarah were so excited to go to Taco Bell at 2:30 in the morning.

We had a wonderful day today. The weather was so beautiful after church. We decided to go to the reservoir and have a picnic. It was perfect.

Today was a big day twice over. In the morning Mikey had his

1st Tee ball game! We actually got his to bat once. My little man is growing up. Today was also Sarah's 7th birthday! Sarah and I hit the mall. First she had here ears pierced and then picked out some earrings. Next we went to glamour shots. We ended the evening at her end of the year dance party.
